Max had such a cute expression with his lustful stare. He gave her a glimpse of what he must have looked like in his childhood on Christmas, opening presents. His excitement, the exuberant nature bubbling with anticipation, it all seemed so perfect and natural. In the six months of secretly dating, she had grown to love him much more than she thought possible.

Tonight, she had a plan. She wanted to make it the most special of all his Christmas’. Sex wasn’t exactly what she had in mind. Not there on her sister’s carpeted living room floor, but it was a beautiful start.

Max caressed her thigh with a light swirl of the back of his hand. The intense expression in his eyes blurred as his face neared. His mouth covered hers, and she took the invitation of his parted lips to move her tongue against his. A new fervor of passion arose as he thrust back, licking the roof of her mouth. He nibbled and sucked at her lips harder. The flavor of peppermint clung to his breath, renewing that minted freshness to their kiss.

“Max?” She put a hand to his muscled shoulder to stop him, to ask him something important.

He pushed her back and lowered over her.

She turned her head sharply at the sound of the front door slamming shut. Together they looked toward the sofa and the part of the archway they could see over the back of the furniture.

“Temperance? Max?” her sister Candace called out.

Max kept her silent at first with the placement of his mouth tight over hers, then he lifted. “Shhh,” he whispered against her lips.

She pressed her face to the underside of Max’s jaw. The damp warmth of his neck drew her lips. She loved the way he gathered her closer as if he could hide her from anyone’s view.

“Maybe they went for a walk,” Eric announced too loudly.

“Well, add some wood to the fire and make sure the drapes are open so we can see the snow falling.” Candace called from further along.

Temperance guessed her sister headed for the kitchen.

“I’ll get some hot chocolate,” Candace said. “They’ll need it after being out in that frigid weather.”

“Oh, I can imagine they’re warm enough, honey,” Eric answered. “Just keep the cocoa hot and we’ll have some in the kitchen until they’re done.”

Max held her closer. His strong arms slipped beneath her back and drew her up. She loved his continuing heroic attempt to conceal her, but she wasn’t fooling herself. Eric was going to get a clear visual when he rounded the sofa.

However, instead of Eric appearing, some of her clothes did. The garments flew over the sofa to them.

“The fire’s all right,” Eric yelled to Candace from where he had to be on his hands and knees behind the sofa.

A few seconds later, Temperance heard the distinct sound of the kitchen door closing.

“We’ve been found out.” Max started lifting up when the coast was clear.

She stopped him, rubbing the length of his sinewy arms, wanting a few seconds of pleasure from his hard body spread over hers.
